The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is an opportunity for students to take one or more university-level courses while in high school. The Advanced Placement course guidelines are developed and published by the College Board, which is a not-for-profit membership association whose mission is to connect students to college/university success and opportunity.  Each AP course covers the breadth of information, skills and assignments found in the corresponding university level course.

AP is accepted by more than 3,600 universities and colleges worldwide for credit, advanced placement, or both based on successful AP exam grades. To get the most current information on a specific university's AP course recognition policy, contact the registrar's office and/or the department of the university that you are interested in attending.

Advanced Placement (AP) courses are currently offered at the following high schools in HRCE:

• Auburn Drive High School
• Bay View High School
• Dartmouth High School
• JL Ilsley High School
• Island View High School (starting September 2024)
• Lockview High School
• Millwood High School
• West Bedford High School (starting September 2024)
