The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) and HRCE value educational research and are committed to promoting a strong culture of collaborative research and data-driven work in Nova Scotia. This goal must be balanced with the need to protect:

• Students’ instructional time
• Staff’s time and resources
• Students’ and staff’s confidentiality and privacy
• Students’ and staff’s safety and well-being

Anyone interested in conducting research involving HRCE schools, staff, students and/or parents is required to complete and submit the EECD Research and Information Sharing Application. In the application, the researcher must demonstrate that they are following the provincial Research and Information Sharing Request Guidelines .

It is important to ensure all necessary documentation is included with the application no later than the following dates:
